The IV Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of Ahalia College of Nursing conducted a Health Awareness Programme in observance of World Hepatitis Day on 28 July 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Outpatient Department, Taluk Hospital, Chittur. The programme, conducted under the guidance of Mrs. Silpa C., Assistant Professor, aimed to educate patients, bystanders, visitors, and I Semester B.Sc. Nursing students about the prevention and control of viral hepatitis.
The session was inaugurated with a welcome address by Mrs. Radhamani, Nursing Officer Grade I, Chittur Taluk Hospital. Students delivered informative presentations on Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E, covering their modes of transmission, signs and symptoms, prevention, vaccination, early screening, and treatment. The programme highlighted the World Hepatitis Day 2026 theme, “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down,” emphasizing the need to improve awareness, prevention, testing, treatment, and access to care.
Students also prepared attractive audiovisual (AV) educational aids on various hepatitis-related topics to reinforce key health messages. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Radhamani, who appreciated the students’ efforts in promoting public awareness. The awareness programme was well received and effectively enhanced community knowledge regarding viral hepatitis, its prevention, and the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment.
