World Breastfeeding Week Celebration

The 3rd Year B.Sc. Nursing students of Ahalia College of Nursing celebrated World Breastfeeding Week on 7 August 2026 at Ahalia Women and Children Hospital, Palakkad.

The programme commenced with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of World Breastfeeding Week and the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the healthy growth and development of infants. An interactive breastfeeding quiz was conducted for the mothers attending the hospital, encouraging active participation and reinforcing their knowledge about breastfeeding practices. A role play presented by the students effectively demonstrated correct breastfeeding techniques, proper positioning and attachment, and the supportive role of family members and healthcare professionals. Prizes were distributed to the quiz winners.

The programme received positive feedback from the doctors, who appreciated the students for organizing an informative and engaging awareness programme. The participating mothers found the session educational and interactive, stating that it improved their understanding of exclusive breastfeeding, correct feeding techniques, and the importance of continued breastfeeding. Overall, the celebration was successful in promoting breastfeeding awareness while enhancing the communication and health education skills of the nursing students.
